The Concept of Special Education

Special education teachers teach students who have physical or mental disabilities and thus have special needs. They are a lifeline to children with special needs since children with special needs are constrained in their learning process because of their disabilities. It is just because of the special education teachers that they acquire the basic skills in education and life overall, and may learn to live independently. Special education teachers adapt the general education curriculum to suit the unique needs of each student.

Thus, special education is a lifeline for those students who have special needs. They personally take care of the special needs of the students by modifying or changing the curriculum accordingly to the extent of disability, wether mild or moderate. With students having severe disabilities, they tend to teach such students basic skills so that students with disabilities can lead their lives independently and teach them basic communication skills and mathematics.

Special education teacher assess the strengths and needs of each student and set their teaching goals accordingly. They help develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), which outlines the kind of education each student with special needs will receive. Special education teachers need to be calm, patient, organized, inspiring and accepting. Special education students can come with a varying degree of disabilities and from various backgrounds.

Special education teachers, hence, have to be understanding and have very effective communication skills, as special education students have difficulty in conveying their needs and ideas. Special education teachers help the students with special needs to feel comfortable in social situations and be aware of socially acceptable behaviour.

Preparing the special education students for life after school is an important part of the work of special education teachers as they teach their students some basic skills which help them to live independently. Thus, special education teachers are doing a great service to the nation by catering to the needs of students with disabilities and help them live a near normal and dignified life.

Significance of Early Childhood Education

Education is the cornerstone on which the edifice of our future rests. Stronger the education, the firmer the edifice of our future would stand. Also, it is now scientifically proven that the formative years of children are the most important years for emotional, mental and intellectual development of a child as they learn very fast in their early childhood and this is the time when the wiring of the brain, i.e. the formation of basic neural network connections takes place.

Psychologists have proven that during the age range of one to eight years, the child is at the peak of learning curve and soaks on new things continuously. It is during this age that the child learns basic social skills, bonding with parents and others, language and vocabulary, and learning and developing new skills. The brains of babies are highly tuned to soak up various things and retain more information than adults can soak up.

A good early childhood education program would involve parents at every stage of the learning process so that the child gets maximum benefit and learns in affinity with ones surrounded. It should place an emphasis on learning through play, in order to hold the full attention of the child at all time times without the child getting bored and keeping them interested in the activity all the time.

The early childhood program must place equal importance on the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of the child so that a well rounded personality of the child could be developed. In general, the entire learning process should be fun for the child and not something forceful and imposed on the child. Thus, if proper care is taken for the early childhood education of the child, it will reap in benefits for both the child and the parents and ultimately help in building a healthy, prosperous nation.

Get an insight about art, the force of life

If every child in the world only thinks about scoring in math or science, then who will become a talented musician or painter? There is a world beyond the mathematical equations and scientific principles. A world of arts where only creativity and talent matters. Famous scientist Albert Einstein said, Imagination is more important than knowledge. Imagination gives rise to new ideas that will bring changes in the world. It is believed that most of the advanced technologies of today's world were depicted by the artists of ancient times.

Art Education
According to the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001, arts education is considered as a core subject in the academic curriculum. But is it given that much vital importance as stated in the NCLB? Unfortunately the answer would be no. Even though every individual believes that arts education hold a great importance in the academics, the time spent for art classes in schools has decreased.

Since there are no tests conducted for arts subjects like music, dance, painting etc, school authorities are cutting down the timings for those classes. Arts education improves motivation, concentration and inspiration among the students. The
Arts Education Partnership (AEP) is such an association which has a long term mission of providing high-quality arts education for every young person in the country.

Study program offered in arts education by the online and campus colleges will open up several career opportunities to the aspiring individuals. In addition to the role of an arts teacher, they can even choose the career as art critics, administrators, etc. Arts education offered in schools require highly passionate teachers, who can motivate the students to express their creative ideas and thoughts. With good communication skills, these teachers must be able to motivate the students to create, perform and achieve success in life. Since the job of a teacher is considered as a noblest profession in the society, selecting it as a career will be a right decision in life.
