Nursing Assistant

Certified Nursing Assistants or CNA's play a vital role in the health care field by offering a helping hand to the patients. They are also known as nursing aides, nursing assistants, geriatric aids, orderlies or hospital attendants. These professionals can work under the supervision of registered nurse (RN), a physician and other medical staff in hospitals and also in residential care facilities. It only requires a high school diploma or equivalent education to enroll into the training programs of CNA. Most of the training programs are of short duration and the licensure requirements vary according to the chosen program and states. 
According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics the job outlook for the nursing assistants are excellent with numerous job openings. Job growth of nursing aides, orderlies and attendants are expected to increase by 20 percent and that of psychiatric aides may be increased by 15 percent from 2010-20. The median annual wages of nursing aides, orderlies and attendants were $24,010 and that of psychiatric aides were $24,950 in May 2010.
