RN (Registered Nurse)

According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, Registered nurses (RN) held the largest section of jobs in the health care industry in 2008. Students must qualify in the National Council Licensure Examinations (NCLEX-RN) to start their career in healthcare field. There are mainly three ways to step into the career of a registered nurse which includes a bachelors of Science degree in nursing (BSN), an associate degree in nursing (ADN) and a diploma. An associate degree in Nursing (ADN) is offered by the community colleges or junior colleges that mostly take 2 to 3 years duration. Registered nurses can even find career options in the administration sector, management and various other fields of health care. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) states that the job prospects are excellent for the registered nurses with an expected job growth of 26 percent from 2010-20 and they earned a median annual wage of $64,690 in May 2010.
