Engineering Schools

Engineers basically convert theoretical knowledge of science and mathematics into practical solutions through applied technology which benefit the society. The dams, buildings and power stations that are being build, the cutting edge innovations in computer chips, development of alternative sources of fuel, etc are minuscule areas of application where engineers work. Besides having a technical frame of mind, engineers are provided to think creatively as well and employ their research in furthering technological innovations and even new inventions. Strong analytical skills and a solid foundation in sciences is a prerequisite for pursuing an engineering course. There are infinite possibilities for a talented engineer in the job market.

Ceramic Sciences and Engineering - Ceramic,Career in Engineering,Online Jobs,Online Programs,Ceramic Engineering

OVERVIEWCeramic sciences and engineering involves the study of non metallic, inorganic materials which are processed at high temperatures. These include materials like porcelain, glass, brick and cement. Ceramic engineering includes the processes of purification of raw materials, the study and production of chemical compounds concerned, their formation into components and the study of their structure, composition and properties. As ceramics are known for its heat resistant nature, those are used in many applications in wide range of industries such as mining, aerospace, medicine, refinery, food and chemical industries, packaging science, electronics, industrial, transmission of electricity, etc.
Ceramic Sciences and Engineering
JOB DESCRIPTION : Ceramic engineers are involved in developing of new ceramic materials as well as developing new methods and equipments for their processing. Ceramic engineers work with a variety of products ranging from glassware and electronic components to nuclear reactors and linings for blast furnaces and jet engines. Many ceramic engineers are working in the industry and also are employed in various research and development projects. One of the uses of ceramic materials is that they are used in the lining of the spacecraft that have to undergo high temperatures while leaving or entering the earth's atmosphere.

The linings of ceramic materials protect the spacecraft from damage due to high temperature since they are heat resistant. One other application of ceramic materials is in the production of superconductors, and in nuclear reactors. The field of ceramic engineering has also its application in military where in ceramics such as alumina, boron carbide and silicon carbide have been used in bulletproof vests to repel large-caliber rifle fire. Recently, there have been advances in ceramics which include bio-ceramics, such as dental implants and synthetic bones.

JOB OUTLOOK : To enter into the field of ceramic engineering, you need at least a bachelor's degree which may take four to five years to complete. Generally, jobs in research and development require a master's degree at least. Job prospects in ceramic sciences and engineering is good since it is an upcoming field.

SALARY : $50,982 for bachelor's as per various industry sources.

DEGREES OFFEREDAssociates  -Bachelor's  -Master's  -Doctorate/PhD  -Certificate

EXPECTED JOB GROWTH : As ceramic engineering is an emerging field where new technological developments are reported at a regular interval, there is good growth in this field. Annual median earning of a ceramic engineer with an undergraduate degree in 2005 was $50,982.

Architectural Engineering - Schools for Architecture, Engineering Programs,Colleges for Architecture

OVERVIEW : Architectural engineers are responsible of designing various service elements which are very important to any building structure. They are also responsible in transforming the vision and design of an architect into reality by implementing the drawings prepared by an architect on the actual site of construction. Architectural engineers serve as an interface between the architects and various other important team members of a construction team and help in the proper implementation of the design of the architect. Architectural engineering involves study of subjects like fundamentals of engineering, building construction, structures, mathematics, physical sciences, surveying, computer programming and as well as architectural history and design.

Architectural Engineering
JOB DESCRIPTION : Architects design buildings and architectural engineers design and implement the various building systems which are very important for the functionality of a building. These systems include heating, ventilation, air conditioning, fire fighting, electric and water supply and sewerage systems. These are the life line of any building and without them, the building would not be a functional building and hence not livable. Architectural engineers apply the principles of engineering to a particular building or structure and make the planning, functionality and design of a building implemented on the construction site.

Architectural engineering often involves interaction and deriving elements from other branches of engineering such as civil and mechanical engineering. One other important task that architectural engineers perform is the viability of the structural integrity of a building. Here also, this function overlaps with a specific branch of engineering itself, namely structural engineering. However, while structural engineers may be involved in the design of various structural elements of a building and an occasional site visit, the architectural/constructional engineers implement the structural layout or design on the construction site. Architectural engineers may also be involved with acoustics and lighting planning of a building. Architectural/constructional engineering may also be involved with making the design of a building sustainable and making it energy efficient. They also study construction technology so that they can implement the design of an architect in a better and more efficient manner.

JOB OUTLOOK : There are very few architectural engineering programs offered in United States and hence the students have fairly good prospects in the job market after completing their studies. Architectural/constructional engineering course is of four to five years duration after which students may find good job prospects in a particular specialized field.

DEGREES OFFERED : Associates  - Bachelor's  - Master's  - Doctorate/PhD  - Certificate

SALARY :
$74,000 according to various industry sources.

EXPECTED JOB GROWTH : According to the Engineering Workforce Commission of the American Association of Engineering Societies "Engineers' Salaries: Special Industry Report," the median annual salary of an architectural engineer with 9-10 years of experience may be $74,000. Architectural engineers work in the construction industry companies and some of them may be self employed.

Audio Engineering - Online Engineering Degree,Engineering College,Engineering Schools,Online College

Rocking live performances of pop stars would be a favorite entertainment option for everyone, isn’t it? Are you attracted towards the world of sound? Do you think that you have the spark to shape the music of future? Apart from the world of musicians, there are some other talented artists that work with them to produce those sound tracks. Audio engineering is a branch of study that deals with the technical and practical aspects of sound signals.  Audio engineers are the un-credited partners in the success of any live performances, music bands, television shows, movies etc.

Audio Engineering
Audio engineering techniques gain much importance in arts and entertainment industry with the advent of technology. Editors and mixers work with many specialized software to generate soundtracks that are more appealing to the listeners. They are widely used in the films, television shows, music, events, sports, meetings and even television commercials.

1.  Studio engineering: As the name indicates, these engineers work in the studio of a film industry or any other entertainment industry. They have to create aesthetic and appealing music by mixing up different tracks. Normally it happens when the tracks and music are sung by different artists.

2.  Recording engineering: They work in the recording studio of radio stations, music bands, television etc. Sound tracks are manipulated with adding effects and changing the tempo of signals.
3.  Mixing engineering: Mixing of sound tracks to create a better one is done by the mixing engineers by adding effective sound punctuations and effects.
4.  Gaming: Video games would be really boring without vibrant sound effects which are attained by the sound engineers.
5. Live sound engineering: Live rock band performances and orchestra always demand the help of audio engineering professionals.
6.  Monitor or Fold back: Audience must hear the live music with good clarity and voice in events. These professionals are responsible for making sure that the song or sound tracks reach the audience with all its perfection.
7.  Systems engineering: Equipments used for public addressing are difficult to set up and operate. System engineers manage the proper functioning of those systems.
8.  Audio post engineers: This specialization deals with the mixing up of soundtracks. In the process of audio mixing, recorded sound tracks are combined together in order to produce wonderful music.
This exciting field of sound and acoustics demands creative blend of mind to work with the talented musicians. So step into this lucrative career by enrolling a degree in audio engineering programs.
