Green jobs

Increasing population means increasing demands to meet basic requirements such as food and shelter. According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, definition of green jobs is given in two ways. Aspiring students can find career opportunities in scientific research and power plant operations of solar power industry. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), ‘total U.S. solar electric capacity surpassed 2,000 megawatts in the year 2009, enough to power over 350,000 homes.

Green Construction : Green construction is quite different from the general architectural and construction work. It mainly focuses on erecting buildings that are environmental friendly and resource efficient, thereby reducing its ecological impact. Some of the career roles are landscape architects, civil engineers, urban planners, mechanical engineer, architects and more.

Recycling : Recycling and reuse are two important processes that can be applied for conserving our natural resources. Wasted materials are collected and new products are created from those things. Drivers, sorters, industrial machinery mechanics and maintenance workers can find great career roles in this industry.

Engineering and Science : Since engineering and scientific fields are behind all the technological advancements and innovations, the concept of “staying green” should start from here. There are so many career roles in this sector that can contribute towards the environmental protection.
